“If you can’t trust the founders to be truthful in their profiles, how can you trust what anyone says on the site”I know people who are twenty or thirty years old that lie about their age - they say they are twenty or thirty, when really they are closed minded crotechety old geezers of sixty or more
i know seventy year old men who could whip the ass of strapping young man with one hand tied behind their back, a wink and a smile
i know teenageers and even kids years young than me that know as much as i know about life, get how the world works - enough to cause you wonder if they've been here before
i don't believe your age relates very closely to the number of laps you've made around the sun -
“People grow old only by deserting their ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up interest wrinkles the soul. You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope as old as your despair. In the central place of every heart there is a recording chamber. So long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer and courage, so long are you young. When your heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then, and then only, are you grown old. And then, indeed as the ballad says, you just fade away.”

I have found this to be true as I am aging. I feel more alive the more I embrace hopeful causes and hopeful people. I feel all the older the more pessimistic and negative the people I am around.
I like it man.
I like this post, I agree that age is a mindset. However I do think that the MacArthur quote over emphasizes idealism. I think you can still be full of "youth," yet temper your idealism with the often painful realities of the world. I don't want to equate youthfullness with naivety, which I am certain is not your intent anyway.

good stuff ken. since posting i've been considering how the idea of "if you're not outraged you're not paying attention" fits in with this - i know it does... these idea(l)s are not mutually exclusive... certainly MacArthur didn't live a Norman Rockwellian existence...
